Youth Mental Health First Aid Course
DATE TO BE CONFIRMED Youth Mental Health First Aid Information Course
Service Description
Our Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training course is taught over one day. It's created by the Please Stay Foundation based on robust evidence from mental health professionals and lived experience parents and carers to formulate a thorough and current guide on how to navigate the conversation around caring for a young person dealing with a mental health condition. We believe our course will arm you with the necessary tools and recourses to be able to identify and manage any situation involving a young person struggling with their mental health. We are not an RTO therefore this is not an accredited course, however a certificate of attainment endorsed by PSF and professional mental health providers. The course has been formulated by qualified trainers who have experience delivering the registered YMHFAT and the MHFAT courses. These trainers alongside the PSF Educator Team, have done months of research and spoken to adults and young people in our PSF community to better understand their needs and where the gaps currently are within this space. It's the "lived experience" component which is lacking in the mental health system and we believe it's the most important way to connect and support those caring for someone who is suffering with ill mental health. It starts with us, knowledge is power, knowledge gives strength and purpose, knowledge gives you the courage to ask for help, knowledge will then in turn save lives. Save the life of a precious young Aussie who may just be slipping through the cracks. We're here to catch them, by empowering you. We've hand picked our qualified trainers, who also have lived experience in caring for a mentally unwell young person just to add an extra layer of empathy and understanding on the complexities of navigating this space.
